Hearts 15, 16 & 17 - December 13, 2019

I have a stack of 100 sheets of 5x5" watercolor paper with hearts drawn on them.  I figure if I make a hundred hearts, I'm bound to come out with a few that are good. I'm now on #15, 16 & 17. If I limit to three colors (not including white or a metallic), it works kinda nice.  Haha - it's Friday the 13th. I forgot!

Graphite Paintings - Oh My Heart! - December 12, 2019

I finished this graphite painting and am very happy with the result! I fiddled with the shadows and like where the wanderings took me. Tonight I listened to Patrick Stewart's A Christmas Carol . I've listened to it so many times I can practically quote it along with him. Dickens wrote such a beautiful story and my heart just grows each time I hear it! I had an unexpectedly free evening tonight. It's nearly time to call it a night. Good things have been done today. Good things, indeed!

Graphite and Granulation - December 11, 2019

When I was at BYU back in the early 90's, there was an instructor named Hagen Haltern who made the most beautiful drawings/paintings with graphite. He made beautiful washes with alcohol that looked like rippled stone or... I'm not sure. The desire to paint with graphite was finally within my grasp when I found liquid pencil on Blick! I couldn't believe it was on the website the day I saw it and clicked "order". It wasn't a surprise to me that I immediately got an email that it was on backorder. They sent me an email saying "it's on backorder" for a few months. Then, one day, I was checking my bank account (as one should do) and say that Blick had charged me something - and I hadn't bought anything (recently). It happened to be for the amount of the liquid pencil. There had to be a mistake! But it wasn't a mistake. It made it to me and I LOVE IT.
