Paralyzed From the Brain Down - April 3, 2020

To say the past weeks have been weird is an understatement. I have been trying to work from home, but it's difficult. What's worse is that I'm home more, but am completely unable to paint! I'm paralyzed and I can't figure out what's wrong. My husband says all psychological problems are inherently fixable if you can articulate what the problem is. So when I can't articulate it, I feel worse, like it's only ME standing in the way of feeling better. If only I were smarter.
One fun thing is that my siblings and I are all talking more online. Yesterday we had the best conversation because one never-available-when-we-group-call sibling actually took part! Unfortunately, they also got mad when I took a (lot) screenshots. I touched up one of the screenshots to show how they should really feel about me.

I'm thinking of downloading some filters for my next meeting at work and looking like the potato lady I can't stop laughing at this picture.

And laugh…

Book Ornaments

Last night it was cool enough to go outside and use the scroll saw we have on our worktable. I used it to cut up books into small squares which I am now folding into ornaments for Christmas. :)

Weddings, Wine and I don't have another W word

The one on the top was folded with this really funny book called The Book of Answers. It had one line of text on the right-facing page. You were supposed to ask a question and then open the book up to "The Answer." Kinda like a literary Magic 8 Ball. Anyway, I really like the white on white... I've wondered for a while now what it would be like to bind my own books with lovely white paper (no text) and then fold those. They definitely wouldn't have the same feel as my Reader's Digest versions. Hmmm...

This batch of books is for a wedding. The bride and groom each have their own letter and then there is a heart book to put between them. The wedding colors are green and brown (and the hearts get to be red because they are about lurve). I've been consumed with these two projects for the last several weeks. Fortunately, they will all be able to be used for my other project - a tutorial on folding fancy fonts and shapes.

Wine #2

I learned something fundamental with this go around in drawing the pattern. Make sure you do it all in one go. If not, you may (accidentally) repeat a part in the middle and have to rip out 30 pages.

Not that that happened to me. No siree. There was no W with an extra piece. Uh-uh.

Next up - Uncial.
