Paper Yarn

A while back I saw an article about making your own yarn out of newsprint. Now, I'm more of a book-type person rather an a newsprint-type and wanted to make paper from book text. So, I read up on the different articles about spinning and making my own drop spindle and doing all that jazz. Last night was my first attempt of making my own paper yarn. By hand. No spindle. I couldn't find the supplies I needed and I was impatient. So, I twisted it by hand. My fingers hurt/burned with the friction and I was only about to do about 24 inches' worth, but it looks cool. I need to get my own spindle because I'll wear my fingers to blisters doing it the manual way.

That is so awesome. Seriously. I can't wait to see what you do with it. I want to tie packages with it. (because I don't know how to knit)

Drop spindles are so much easier that than article. Think peanut butter jar lid, no. 2 pencil, and some weights, quarters, washers, whatever, and you're good to go.
